$300m in Kawarau Falls

In one of the largest property transactions negotiated in New Zealand, UK-based Bluesky Capital is to invest in excess of $300 million in Melview Development's Kawarau Falls Station resort development at Queenstown. The deal has been passed by the Overseas Investment Office. It will fund the 221 room Intercontinental hotel, announced last week, and a 197 room all-suite serviced apartment hotels as well as a boutique luxury lodge, and a luxury apartment building. The transaction was facilitated by Bayley's executive chairman, John Bayley.
